In an abandoned plot of land in Lahore, Pakistan, photojournalist Fahseeh Shams captures Shazia, the youngest daughter of a family of snake charmers. Snake charming is now a dying art and profession, as opposed to 40 years ago when charmers would walk the streets, invited into homes to perform their magic. As Shams made the portrait, Shazia’s father proudly boasted in the background, “She is the queen of all tribes living here. One day she will be the best snake catcher of all Pakistan.”
