‘Pause’, oil paint on C-Print, 4″ x 6″, 2013
Photographer Audree Anid reinvents the past by transforming old family photographs with oil paints in her series Re-Fractions. The above image is of her parents in the 1980s, stretched out and relaxing in the sun. Anid’s use of color and texture blur and distort the photograph, much like our memories fade, blink and warp as time goes on. Re-Fractions makes mosaics of the past, abstracting time into hazy daydreams of once vivid-moments.
