You know what you’re looking at. While papayas and sandwiches don’t feel particularly naughty, Peter Kaaden makes our minds go there anyway, his clever images a cheeky take on the contemporary still life. Zu Nah (German for “Too Close”) is a racy series of absolutely banal objects, becoming strangely provocative with the appropriate – or inappropriate – perspective. The commercial photographer chooses to say very little about the concept, allowing the off-color conclusions to be entirely our own.
Zu Nah is part of the 2014 Vice Photo Issue.
