Nowadays society values progress and technological development. People often complain about living life too fast but hardly anyone tries to slow down and pay attention. Romanian photographer Andrei Baciu believes it is our (now lost) tranquility that gives us the chance to understand life and become wiser. His Granny’s Place photo series captures the magic of his great grandma’s house, a place where technology never arrived and it was never missed.
Baciu took these photos between 2008 and 2011. The house is located in the Magura village, in Romania. It remained untouched after great grandma passed away, and it preserves not only a typical Eastern feel but also the spirit of how things used to be. ‘You know, it is here where I feel the need to retreat from this every so often sterile agitation of the mundane, from this soulless rattling of the world’ says Baciu.
