Emerging NYC Photographers Are Invited to Apply to the #WORKinPROGRESS Exhibition at ROOT (Brooklyn)

If you’re an emerging photographer, you know that the biggest challenge sometimes isn’t honing your vision so much as it is getting your work in front of the right eyes. That’s why ROOT began #WORKinPROGRESS, a bi-monthly one-night showcase devoted entirely to up-and-coming photographers.

The fourth edition of #WORKinPROGRESS will take place on the evening of May 14th, 2015, from 7:00 until 10:00 PM. #WORKinPROGRESS draws an audience of hundreds, including some of ROOT’s own clients, making the show a great opportunity to network and have your work seen by leading industry professionals. Although there are no age or theme restrictions—applicants can specialize in everything from fine art to beauty, fashion to portraiture—ROOT is looking for NYC-based photographers with a cohesive body of work and artists whose concepts are original, fresh, and innovative. Submission is free, and the four to five selected photographers will each receive a 70% discount at Skink Ink Fine Art Printing. Prints are mounted on a four by eight foot piece of foam core and beautifully lit within the space. ROOT will take care of all the promotion, inviting clients and providing drinks for all. All exhibiting photographers are free to invite friends, family, and clients.

After the show has concluded, featured artists will have one photograph framed and put on display in the ROOT (Brooklyn) lobby for the two months preceding the next show, at which point they will be gifted the framed work. #WORKinPROGRESS is all about helping talented artists to get their ideas out there for the world to see, and ROOT selects photographers who have the potential to become breakout stars.
