The 6th Annual Feature Shoot Emerging Photography Awards Is Now Open for Entries

We’re thrilled to announce that 6th annual Feature Shoot Emerging Photography Awards is now open for entries! This year’s prizes include a group exhibition at the renowned FORMAT21 Festival in the UK, featuring three to five selected photographers, as well as a poster run in East London, featuring ten winners. In total, as many as fifteen photographers could be selected this year to have their work seen by tens of thousands of people.

We also have an all-star jury this year, made up of industry leaders like Feature Shoot Founder Alison Zavos; the artist and creative entrepreneur Joshua Kissi; Chelsea Matiash, a senior editor for digital storytelling at The New York Times; Alessia Glaviano, the Brand Visual Director of Vogue Italia and Director of the Photo Vogue Festival; the photographer Cheriss May, who is also the President of Women Photojournalists of Washington as well as an adjunct professor at Howard University; the multimedia journalist, digital editor, and photographer Polly Irungu, who founded Black Women Photographers, a global community and online database of Black women and non-binary photographers; the Visuals and Photo Director Tracey Woods, most recently of recently for Essence Communications; and Louise Fedotov-Clements, the Artistic Director of QUAD in and the Director of FORMAT International Photography Festival in the UK.

As always, the Emerging Photography Awards is open to all genres, from documentary and street to portraiture and fine art and everything in between. We’re looking to kickstart the careers of emerging talent around the world, and in addition to our two exhibition opportunities, we’ll be spotlighting contenders over on our Instagram feed and offering our collection of curated PDF guides to one People’s Choice Award Winner every two weeks.

In light of the financial difficulties experienced throughout the last year, we’ve lowered our submission fee to $25 per entry. All photographers who are not currently represented by a gallery or photographers’ agent are eligible. The deadline for submissions is midnight EST on January 8th, 2021, and winners will be announced in late January or early February. We can’t wait to see your work! Submit here today.
