Our international photography competition for up-and-coming image makers is back! All photographers not currently represented by a gallery or photographers’ agent are invited to apply. This year we will be awarding 30 impressive photographers with an exhibition at the world-renowned Aperture Gallery in Chelsea, New York City. Additionally, a US$3000 cash prize is up for grabs, as well as global exposure opportunities.
Entries are accepted for the Emerging Photography Awards from photographers of all ages and backgrounds working across all genres including (but not limited to): fine art, landscape, documentary, portraits, fashion and still life.
Judges for the awards this year include Jessie Wender, Photo Editor at The New York Times, Toby Kaufmann, Creative Director at Facebook, and Alison Zavos, the founder of The Print Swap and Feature Shoot.
The deadline to enter is November 13, 2019 and the one night show at Aperture will be held in January 2020. But get in fast! There’s a special discounted early bird entry fee of US$25 until September 25 for a series of up to 5 images. After September 25, entry is US$35.

“Being one of winners of the Feature Shoot Emerging Photography Awards is an important step in any artists’ career. Right after winning the Award, we also became finalists of Lensculture Visual Storytelling Award and the Palm Photo Prize. We also gave artist talk at one of the biggest art festivals in Europe called Off Festival in Barcelona, showed our works at the Voices Off Festival in Arles together with Handsome production, and had a solo show in Milano, Italy, at the Office Project room gallery, amongst many more notable achievements. Overall, it was a very interesting experience!”

“After I received the Feature Shoot Emerging Photography Award, my work was published in many magazines and online platforms, such as Republic (Sweden), Society (France), Gente di Fotografia (Italy), Indie (Germany), Marie Claire (United Kingdom), Fotograf (Czech Republic), Huck (UK), Calvert Journal (UK), Bird in Flight (Ukraine), Lens Culture (USA), Wired (USA), and many other,. Since then, my project Vrajitoare was shortlisted for the Portraits – Hellerau Photography Award in Germany; it was part of the group exhibition in Pumpenhaus in Dresden, Germany; and also it was part of Pozna? Photo Diploma Award in Poland. I was announced as the Personality of Czech Photography in the category up to 30 years in the Czech Republic. I am also very grateful that because of the Feature Shoot Award, I could be a part of the FORMAT International Photography Festival in Derby (UK). I would definitely recommend other photographers to take a part in this contest.”

“The great opportunity Feature Shoot gave me to explain my work in a deep and sharp interview was for me an exercise of positioning, a unique moment of verbalizing my discourse and my activism, making me dive deeper, and spreading my word internationally. From there, new interviews arose – such as that with G’RLS ROOM magazine in Poland – I was contacted by various festivals to exhibit this project (Head On, Athens Foto, and ArtPhotoBCN) and my international recognition even led this project to win some awards (Grand Prix Fotofestiwal Lodz, Photo Chronicles, and Vevey Images Photobook Award). Since then, my professional career has been on the rise, helping me to continue with my next projects through artist residences and grants. The interview turned out to be such an interesting exercise for me that it ended being introduced as text in the dummy that, after winning VEVEY IMAGES PHOTOBOOK AWARD (Switzerland), will soon be published. Thank you very much Feature Shoot for this push, for your trust, and interest in my project, for your professionalism!”
