The end of last year saw the publication of a staggering volume of imagery culled from ten years of Eyemazing magazine. Eyemazing: The New Collectible in Art Photography, published by Thames & Hudson, is a compendium of pictures that were originally published in the magazine itself, which focuses on collectible fine art photography. Eyemazing Susan (Susan Zadeh), who alone started the magazine, curated the book as she does the magazine.
The book contains a stunning array of 423 pictures by 130 photographers that espouse the qualities of “vivid imagination, shock value, elegance of a new order, tangible emotions, and direct confrontations with a heightened reality” (from the introductory essay by Karl E. Johnson). Dreams, memory, mystery, and other intangible qualities are the common traits that unite the magic found in the pages of Eyemazing.
