Internal Conflict

In a performative series of self portraits, Guyanese and Harlem-born photographer Ivan Forde uses literary references and digital manipulation to explore questions of morality, temptation and consequence. Inspired by John Milton’s 12 volume poem Paradise Lost, Forde imagines his own indecision suspended between violence and peace. Much like Adam and Eve, the soul is is torn between a classic choice of good and evil. Transformations tangles with notions of free will and consequences, the result of our actions or lack thereof always in conflict.
